The Bully Wee suffered a 3-2 defeat to Peterhead in cinch League 1 at Balmoor Stadium.

Danny Lennon made two changes to his starting lineup for his 150th game as Clyde manager, as Neil Parry made his debut and Barry Cuddihy came back in to the team for Matthew Elsdon.

Peterhead took the lead early on in the game, as an outstanding double save from Neil Parry kept the ball out the net as first but the danger wasn’t cleared and McCarthy opened the scoring from close range.

The scores were level soon after though, as David Goodwillie was tripped inside the box and the referee pointed to the spot. The captain stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to equalise.

The hosts took the lead again just six minutes later, as Scott Brown found himself with the ball at the edge of the box and he had time to slot the ball into the bottom left hand corner.

Clyde found themselves further behind a few minutes later as Russel McLean got on the end of a ball into the box and put a well placed shot into the top corner to double Peterhead’s lead.

Danny Lennon then made two first half substitutions to change the system, and Clyde soon came back into the game.

Barry Cuddihy put a cross into Robert Jones in the box who saw his header come back off the post, and David Goodwillie reacted brilliantly to diving header the ball off the bar and into the net to score his 100th goal for Clyde just before half-time.

Goodwillie should have had his hat-trick soon after the restart as he ran onto a flick on by Jones and went one on one with the keeper, but Brett Long saved the shot with his foot. The ball then found its way to Ross Cunningham who attempted a curling effort but it cannoned back off the crossbar.

Another chance for Clyde went wide of the goal as Goodwillie got a shot away on the edge of the area, but it rolled narrowly past the post.

Further chances fell to Jones and Cunningham later on, but Jones saw his header go over the bar and Ross Cunningham had a shot at the near post blocked by the foot of Brett Long.

The game soon died down and the referee blew for full time, as Peterhead held on for the three points.
