Sporting Director Appointed
The club is pleased to announce the appointment of Graham Diamond to the new role of Sporting Director.
Graham has a wealth of experience in the Scottish game, having coached and developed at all levels in Scotland over 25 years, most recently with St Mirren.
Commenting on the appointment, Clyde Chairman John Taylor said:-
"We are delighted to have secured Graham. This is a role we have been keen to introduce into the structure for some time, and it was announced at the launch of our strategic plan at the AGM last November.
"As a Board, it was important to enhance our football experience within the club as we develop the plan for the football department going forward. We have kept Danny informed and involved throughout, agreeing the remit of the role together.
"We have spoken with a number of candidates, but Graham stood out as an individual ideally suited to the position, given his experience and knowledge of the game."
The Sporting Director will be the lead on the board in supporting the first team manager. Danny will be solely responsible for training and squad selection and will have the final say on all player signings; no player can be signed without the approval of the manager.
Graham will be responsible for developing the appropriate structure to support the manager. He will ensure all aspects of the football department’s operation are managed in an effective and efficient way including the player recruitment database, development of the scouting network, medical team and additional personnel as required to allow the club to achieve its stated objectives.
The Sporting Director will be charged with ensuring the successful delivery of the agreed aims, objectives and outcomes of the 1st team within the Strategic Football Development Plan.
Danny said, "Success at a football club is always the result of a tremendous team effort. We welcome Graham to the team and I look forward to forging a strong working relationship with him that will take the club forward once again."
Graham added, "It is an honour and a privilege to have been invited to join the club in the important role of Sporting Director. I am really looking forward to working with Danny, Allan and Chris to support them in bringing success to the club."
At such a challenging time, the club looks forward to Graham commencing his role, helping to drive continual improvement in the football operation by ensuring that it is implementing best practice, to enhance the overall performance of the club.
