The Bully Wee recorded their third victory at Broadwood in a week, following a well deserved 2-0 win over Dumbarton this afternoon.
Danny Lennon made one change to his side, with Ross Lyon replacing Barry Cuddihy due to illness.
Clyde had an early chance when a cross into the box put Ross Cunningham through on Dumbarton 'keeper Conor Brennan, but he was able to punch the danger clear.
Chris McStay then came close when the ball made it's way across the box to him, and his deflected strike cannoned back off the post.
Dumbarton's best chance of the afternoon came through an inswinging Ross Forbes corner which seemed to deceive the Clyde defence. David Mitchell punched it off the line onto the back of Ray Grant, but he was able to gather before it crossed the line.
The Bully Wee broke the deadlock four minutes after the restart when David Goodwillie got on the end of a throw-in and nipped in ahead of a defender, before taking the ball round Brennan and slotting home.
Brennan then produced two good saves to keep efforts from McStay out, and another chance was passed up following good work from Ally Love. He beat Lewis Crawford on the right wing then sent a cross into the box which Mark Lamont ran on to, but volleyed just over the bar.
Brennan was in top form again to deny Goodwillie twice in quick succession, firstly blocking his backheeled effort, then making a superb save from a blistering drive following a low Cunningham cross.
The points were secured in the last minute. The Sons threw men forward in search of an equaliser, but McStay won back possession and drove forward on the counter attack. He slipped in Goodwillie, who in turn squared the ball to John Rankin, and the veteran midfielder fired high into the net to open his goal account for the season.
