Tony Expects More to Come
Clyde midfielder Tony Wallace spoke to the press on Saturday, following the 1-1 draw with East Fife in the opening match of the 2019-20 Ladbrokes League 1 season.
The summer signing was relatively pleased with the point gained after a good contest:-
"I think it's not a bad point, considering how East Fife went in the Betfred Cup, getting results against Hearts and Dundee United. People probably thought that we'd struggle, but I thought that we were the better team apart from maybe the first 15 minutes of the second half.
"We did our homework on East Fife and how they played in the Betfred, so we knew what to expect. It's a good result, but we're disappointed after being a goal up and then conceding. You always want maximum points at home, but it gives us something to build on."
The 28-year-old said that he expected more to come from the team, with a settled routine also helping with preparations for the league action:-
"I think we surprised East Fife and we're not just coming into League 1 to make up the numbers, we're going to have a right good go. It was a solid performance overall and we'll take confidence from that.
"I think we'll get better and better and there's more to come from us, with boys to come back from injury as well. It's been a tough period for us, playing on Wednesdays and Sundays and also training twice a week, so it's been hard. We had a good week's training last week and it'll be the same again this week.
"We've got a couple of tough away games now but we'll look forward to it and hopefully produce 90 minute performances."
