PREVIEW: Clyde v Hamilton Accies
The Bully Wee's first competitive action of the 2019-20 season takes place tomorrow night, with a Betfred Cup Group F match against Hamilton Accies.
As a reminder, the match will take place at Stenhousemuir's Ochilview, due to the ongoing pitch replacement project at Broadwood.
Premiership side Accies began their Betfred Cup campaign on Saturday, with a draw at home to Queen's Park, but missed out on a bonus point following a penalty shootout loss.
Clyde will be without two players tomorrow, John Rankin and Ally Love, as Danny Lennon explained when he spoke to the official website this evening:-
"John is still making good progress, but we always knew he'd be coming back nearer the end of August. Ally has an ankle problem that needs further investigation and we're putting that in place."
Looking ahead to the match, Danny continued:-
"The format of this competition is beneficial at this time of the summer. We want to do well in it, but we're still getting up to full speed and getting different players time out on the pitch together. We've now got four matches in quick succession to do that.
"We know exactly where we need to be and I'm excited about working with this group again. They can continue to help the club progress, along with the players we have brought in. I'm really pleased with what I have seen from them so far and they are great characters, which is very important to us.
"Hamilton have had one competitive match already and I know that a very well organised Queen's Park side did well against them to get a draw. Knowing Brian (Rice) and his philosophy on the game, he'll have personnel that will want to play the brand of football that he wants. So it has the makings of a good, entertaining game."
Match Outcome: In the event of the score being level after 90 minutes, penalties will be played to award an additional bonus point to the winning team.
