Danny Places Importance on Friendlies
Danny Lennon has given an update to the official website, as the pre-season schedule moves into the friendly match phase.
The Clyde manager commented on the visit to Linlithgow Rose and a busy week ahead.
"It was definitely a good exercise on Saturday," he said. "There were a lot of pleasing things and it showed the reason why these games are important. It was very disappointing to lose two goals but we did create a lot of chances and should have scored more.
"We're picking it up now in terms of the match schedule, with Alloa tomorrow and a closed door game on Saturday.
"It'll then not be long until the Betfred Cup starts and that's great for giving us competitive and important matches at an early stage."
In terms of the squad status, Danny was pleased to report on positive progress being made by John Rankin and David Goodwillie, as they recover from injuries picked up at the end of last season:-
"John's continuing his rehab and making great progress. His target for a return was always middle to late August and there's been no change to that, he's on schedule.
"David should be back in doing some work with the group later this week as he continues his recovery.
"They are both very fit lads but we won't rush them back; only when our medical team think it's the right time."
Danny also confirmed that Ross Lyon, who didn't take part at Prestonfield, had been kept out by a back problem.
"Ross had a back injury which was frustrating for him as he's wanting to hit the ground running, but he should be back involved in this week.
"This isn't the time to take any risks with players and we want everyone to be in the best possible shape when the season starts."
