Clyde 1-1 Stenhousemuir

Sat, 26th Aug 2017 6:10pm

The Bully Wee came from behind to take a point against Stenhousemuir at Broadwood this afternoon.

Jim Chapman made three changes to the side that lost at Elgin last weekend; Kyle Bradley and Kevin Nicoll replaced Jack Breslin and Matt Flynn, and goalkeeping coach David Crawford appeared as a trialist, taking over from the suspended Blair Currie. There was also a spot on the bench for Jordan Lowdon after 12 months out with a knee injury.

Stenhousemuir took the lead just after the half hour mark, when Mark McGuigan's shot from the edge of the area hit the underside of the crossbar, and bounced down and over the goal line.

Clyde hit the woodwork moments later when Smart Osadolor's cross was deflected onto the top of the bar. Just before half-time David Crawford parried away a shot from Harry Paton as the visitors looked to double their lead.

Jim Chapman made a tactical alteration at the break and brought on Mark Burbidge. The Bully Wee almost equalised when Darren Miller whipped a cross along the face of the goal, but David Goodwillie could not connect with the ball

The equaliser eventually came with only 13 minutes remaining after Kevin Nicoll rose highest to power home a header from a Darren Ramsay corner.

The game began to open up in the closing stages and Stenny goalkeeper Chris Smith made a superb save from Barry Cuddihy's well struck effort. The Warriors almost nicked all 3 points deep into stoppage time, but Ross Dunlop's close range header was aimed straight at Crawford, who held the ball with ease.
